About Gil Gatch

Gatch Family Christmas 2025 by Samantha Mahler Photography_edited.jpg

Gil Gatch is a fighter for truth, liberty, and the rule of law — in the courtroom, in the State House, and in the community.

A Summerville native, Gil proudly represents House District 94 in the South Carolina General Assembly, serving families across Charleston and Dorchester counties.

As a practicing attorney and founder of Gil Gatch Law, LLC, he brings integrity-driven, constitutionally grounded advocacy to every case, focusing on civil and family litigation with clarity, conviction, and compassion.

But Gil’s path to public service didn’t begin in politics — it began with people.

Before law and elected office, Gil spent nearly eight years in full-time pastoral ministry, leading worship, counseling families, and engaging culture with a deep commitment to theology and biblical truth. Even earlier, he was the lead singer of the regional rock band The Falls Lost, performing alongside Eric Bass of the platinum-selling band Shinedown. That creative chapter sharpened his voice to be bold, confident, and unafraid. That voice he now uses to stand firm in the courtroom and on the House floor.

From 2012 to 2015, Gil served as Administrative Director for Dr. Frank Turek’s national apologetics ministry, CrossExamined.org, helping expand its national platform and influence. He later earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he worked with The Heritage Foundation, Georgetown’s Center for the Constitution, and U.S. Senator Tim Scott. After graduation, he clerked for the Honorable Diane S. Goodstein in South Carolina’s First Judicial Circuit.

Gil also holds a theology degree from Southern Evangelical Seminary, where he now serves on the Board of Directors and a law degree from Georgetown University.

At home in the historic district of Summerville, Gil and his wife Heather are raising their daughter Claire and son Hugo — along with Sherlock, their loyal German Shepherd. Their family worships at Summerville Baptist Church, where Gil was baptized as a child and later called to ministry.

Whether he’s litigating, legislating, refining his short game on the golf course, or chasing his kids around the house, Gil Gatch leads with conviction, courage, and a deep love for South Carolina.
