Servant leadership, plain and simple
Gil Gatch is a fighter for truth, liberty, and the rule of law in the courtroom, in the State House, and in the community.
Before he was a legislator, he was a pastor and an attorney. Both jobs come down to the same thing: showing up for people when it matters. He brings that same conviction to the South Carolina House, where he represents District 94 and the families of Summerville. His approach is straightforward: read the bill, ask the hard question, and vote the way he told folks back home he would.

Power our future
South Carolina's growth is outpacing its energy generation. Build on the Energy Security Act with proactive planning that keeps power reliable, saves families money, and prepares our grid for our children and grandchildren.
Hold insurers accountable
Pass a South Carolina Insurance Transparency Act requiring insurers to show ratepayers how they set prices and justify rising costs before asking lawmakers to make it easier to deny claims.
Axe the income tax
Eliminate South Carolina's income tax and let earnings stay with the families and businesses that produced them.
Defend parental rights
Reform the family court system so parents keep their say in how their own children are raised.
Support small businesses
As hemp regulations move forward, protect South Carolina's small businesses while keeping these products out of children's hands.
Invest in safer roads
Dedicate funding to road projects that alleviate traffic, improve commutes, and increase road safety for families across House District 94.

Fighting for Small Businesses
Gatch stood up for 1,800 small businesses over big corporations
When big players tried to rewrite the hemp market in their favor, Gil stood with roughly 1,800 small South Carolina businesses, 3,500 workers and 350 independent pharmacies. His position: start by keeping these products away from kids, not by handing the market to the biggest players.

Energy Security Act
Gatch led passage of the Energy Security Act
Gil helped pass the South Carolina Energy Security Act, a major reform to make sure our growing state has reliable, affordable power for families and new jobs.

Tax Relief
Cut Every South Carolinian's Taxes
When Columbia had a surplus, the easy vote was to spend it. Gil voted to send it back to the people who earned it, cutting the income tax faster than the law required, year after year.
Gil's record on taxes is simple:
- 7% → 6%. The top rate has come down every year since 2022, reaching the state's 6% goal two years early.
- Ahead of schedule. Gil backed speeding up the cuts instead of waiting on Columbia's timeline.
- 2026: a new, lower rate, down to 5.21%, the next step toward eliminating the income tax.

Accountability
Gatch led the push after the $3.5 billion accounting error
After a $3.5 billion state accounting error came to light, Rep. Gatch filed a resolution directing the House Judiciary Committee to open an impeachment inquiry into then-Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom, citing both the scale of the error and the damage it did to public trust.
